Dr. Susan Cardenas - Providing Excellent Leadership



Dr. Susan Cardenas works as an associate professor and is well respected team member at New Mexico State University. She always works to help educate the youth within the community to and share her knowledge and through special initiatives. Dr. Cardenas is making a huge difference in the community by using her experience and skills in the public health sector. She educates the young people of the community through her work with schools, government agencies and community centers.  

Dr. Susan Cardenas has been a long standing member of the public health sector. She was working within the public health system as District III's community and media relations coordinator at New Mexico Department of Health prior to getting her degree from the school. Her job entails things such as coordinating public health campaigns, writing press releases, news articles and coordinating media interviews for the department. She was also responsible for putting health initiatives together by working with various other community agencies and government entities. Her efforts have greatly affected the programs in the area and she has successfully promoted public health initiatives both within the community and the schools.
Dr. Susan Cardenas is currently the associate professor at New Mexico State University. She has been awarded many awards since acquiring the position. She was awarded the NMSU Donald C. Roush Award for Teaching Excellence, which is only granted to the top faculty members of New Mexico State University. The faculty members that are considered must portray a deep commitment to education and a track record for always surpassing the school's standards for professors and teaching professionals. Dr. Cardenas is a leading member of the school's faculty and remains a leader within the Department of Public Health Sciences at NMSU and the community public health sector.

Dr. Susan Cardenas: Decorated Teaching Career



Dr. Susan Cardenas is a well thought of member of the New Mexico State University Department of Public Health Sciences. She is an associate professor, who has spent many years both studying and working in the public health public sector. She works through a variety of ways to help reach the students in the area and assist in their learning of a variety of public health topics and to further personal growth. Dr. Cardenas has been part of the staff at NMSU since 1996, and is a former graduate of the school herself. She has been obtaining her education within the NMSU system from her undergraduate to her Master’s degree. She holds the position of the Director of the SWAG program, which is an outreach program that helps to educate local teens in an effort to cut down on the amount of teen pregnancies in the seven New Mexico counties. 

At NMSU's Department of Public Health Sciences, Dr. Susan Cardenas works as an associate professor educating students on a variety of health issues. She teaches mainly in the areas of public health such as women's health, sexuality education for children and youth, child health and maternal. She is a well-respected part of the of the NMSU Public Health Sciences Department team. Dr. Cardenas is dedicated to making a difference and works tirelessly to inspire her students to strive for excellence and take care of themselves. She is a trusted member of the Department of Public Health Sciences. She always goes the extra mile to help her students and other members of the NMSU staff and faculty. Before working in the Public Health Sciences Department, she was an assistant professor in the Department of Health Studies at Texas Women’s University. She taught courses to both graduate and undergraduate students. In her current position as an Associate Professor at New Mexico State University, she teaches students on undergraduate and graduate levels in subjects that include Women's Health Issues, Human Sexuality, Stress Management and Maternity.

Dr. Susan Cardenas - Accomplished Career

Dr. Susan Cardenas is an esteemed member of the New Mexico State University Department of Public Health Sciences. She is a dedicated teacher, who has achieved success through her efforts in public health over the years, through her commitment to her students.  Her main goal is to reach out to students and gain their interests in learning more about public health and personal growth. Since 1996, Dr. Cardenas has been part of the faculty at NMSU and graduated from NMSU herself. Over the years she has obtained her higher education within the school’s system.  Presently she is the Director of the SWAG program, which is an outreach program that works to prevent teen pregnancy within the seven counties.  

Dr. Susan Cardenas works to educate students in a variety of areas within NMSU as a College Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences. Presently she is involved in numerous areas of public health such as sexuality education for children and youth, women’s health, maternal and child health. She is one of the most well thought after members of the NMSU Public Health Sciences Department staff. Dr. Cardenas tries to always inspire her students and has become an inspiration to many in her role as College Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences. She goes above and beyond her work duties to help students and other members of those in her field. 
Prior to her current position, she was an assistant professor in the Department of Health Studies at Texas Women’s University. She taught a range of courses to both graduate and undergraduate students. While at her present role as an Associate Professor at New Mexico State University, she has taught students on both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including Women's Health Issues, Human Sexuality, Stress Management and Maternity.

Dr. Susan Cardenas - Health Education Professional



Dr. Susan Cardenas is an experienced health education professional who has served as a public health educator and   in a number of public health programs and in higher education.  Dr. Cardenas has been involved in higher education for much of her career, predominantly in service at the New Mexico State University campus. 

Dr. Susan Cardenas started out with her involvement at New Mexico State University in the early 1980s. She started her undergraduate studies there, which led a Bachelor of Community Health degree that was achieved in May of 1990.  Dr. Cardenas began working for La Clinica De Familia, Inc shortly after her 1990 graduation.  This real world experience as a public health educator was an important foundation for her academic career trajectory.  After her work at La Clinica, she joined the New Mexico Department of Health and then began her pursuit of a graduate-level education.

 In December 2005, she received a Master of Science degree in Health Science and Management.  In August of 2006, Dr. Susan Cardenas earned her Doctoral degree in Educational Administration from the NMSU.  

Dr. Susan Cardenas  teaches several online graduate courses; these include Orientation to Public Health, Infectious and Noninfectious Disease Prevention and Theoretically-based Interventions

Dr. Susan Cardenas, Public Health Educator



Dr. Susan Cardenas is a longtime professor at New Mexico State University (NMSU) who is dedicated to public health education.  She has served the institution loyally and with distinction for many years. Dr. Cardenas has won several awards for her teaching service over the years, including the NMSU Donald C. Roush Award for Teaching Excellence and the Distinguished Alumni Award for the College of Health and Human Services.  She currently serves in the role of College Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences at NMSU.  Her knowledge includes various public health areas, which has been an important part of her career story.  These areas of knowledge include women’s health, adolescent health behaviors, human sexuality, maternal and child health and more. 


 
Dr. Susan Cardenas received her higher education at New Mexico State University, earning three degrees at NMSU between 1990 and 2006. She first earned her Bachelor of Community Health degree in May of 1990, then a Master’s degree in Health Science/ Management in December of 2005, and ultimately her Doctoral degree in Educational Administration from the institution in August of 2006. 

With that background, Dr. Cardenas has benefitted the program in her role as an associate professor.  She is known for her detailed and enthusiastic approach to the public health field.  Dr. Cardenas shares her wealth of public health knowledge and experience not only in the classroom, but beyond the campus as well in the greater Southern New Mexico region. Already a respected NMSU educator, she also serves as the Co-Principal Investigator and Program Manager of Success With Adolescent Goals, (SWAG) Program.  This program aims to reduce the incidence of teenage pregnancy throughout Southern New Mexico. Dr. Susan Cardenas is not only a skilled researcher and knowledgeable professional, she continues to lead efforts to improve access to quality public health education throughout her community.

New Mexico State University Professor Dr. Susan Cardenas



Dr. Susan Cardenas is a member of the Department of Public Health Science at New Mexico State University. Dr. Cardenas has spent the bulk of her career in higher education. Her academic career initiated at New Mexico State University and continued at Texas Woman’s University, before re-joining the NMSU faculty in 2012.Dr. Susan Cardenas is a valued educator, known for the care and attention she provides students, as well as her ability to effectively convey and translate her wealth of public health knowledge and expertise to her students in both an online and a classroom settings. She currently teaches a plethora of undergraduate and graduate level course at New Mexico State University, is the Program Manager of Success With Adolescent Goals (SWAG), a youth development research program, and continues to be an impactful and influential member of the public health field. Dr. Susan Cardenas is regarded by colleagues as a passionate educator and a knowledgeable public health professional, and she is known by her students to be a caring and attentive professor.


Dr. SusanCardenas is proud to be not only a professor at NMSU, but also an NMSU alumna, and to push for better funding towards the Public Health Science Department. She is a member of the alumni-based Aggie Century Club, which seeks out and solicits private donations to help not only the department, but also its many students.

Dr. Susan Cardenas is invested in the future of New Mexico State University, its large and vibrant student body, and the field of public health. She has many varied interests, both as an educator and as a researcher, and continues to be a staunch advocate for her field of study.
