Dr. Susan Cardenas has been a valuable part of the Department of Public Health Sciences at New Mexico State University since 1996. Currently an NMSU Public Health Sciences College Associate Professor, she has continually demonstrated a passion for both higher education and for her field, making a positive and enduring impact on the lives of many students throughout her career.
Dr. Susan Cardenas takes an enthusiastic
approach to the public health field, energetically sharing her wealth of public
health knowledge and experience not only in the classroom, but also with the Southern New Mexico region. A respected and well-known
NMSU educator, she is also the Co-Principal Investigator and Program Manager of
Success With Adolescent Goals, (SWAG) Program, which aims to reduce the
incidence of teenage pregnancy throughout Southern New Mexico. A skilled
researcher and knowledgeable professional, Dr. Susan Cardenas continues to lead
an effort to improve access to quality public health education throughout her
community.
Dr. Susan Cardenas has won two awards for
her service as both an NMSU alumni and as an NMSU educator. She takes pride in
her roles as both an educator and as a researcher, and has been a credit to the
public health field for many years. Earning the respect of colleagues, students
and professionals throughout the public health community, Dr. Susan Cardenas
continually demonstrates an unwavering enthusiasm towards her field and her
institution, and towards making her community a better informed and healthier
place to live.
